Jose’ & Marsha Fortin are Assemblies of God missionaries to the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican Republic is an island country in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Cuba. Roman Catholicism is the main religion, but many Dominicans still need an adequate presentation of the Gospel. Some who live near the Haitian border practice voodoo religions.

The Fortins will be live and work in the province of Barahona, located 40 miles from the border of Haiti. The Assemblies of God is a growing fellowship of believers in the Dominican Republic with about 75,000 gathering in nearly 2,000 churches and outstations across the country. Jose’s Latin American background will be very effective in the various ministry opportunities they will have.

Jose’ came to the Lord at the age of 20 through the efforts of an Assemblies of God missionary in his home country of Honduras. He began getting involved in the church and decided to go to Bible College in the United States. It was there that God began to put a burden in his heart to some day return to Latin America and share the ‘Good News’.
